What is a Servo controlled stabilizer? Why should I install one?

A Servo voltage stabilizer is a voltage stabilizer that manages the current flow in a circuit of current regulators. It can automatically sense voltage and current fluctuations. After detecting the flow of voltage and current, it alters the input and gives a steady and non-fluctuating output. It is called a servo stabilizer because it is based on a servo motor controlled stabilization system. Servo voltage stabilizers are widely used in small, medium and big industries, factories and shopping malls where power load is very high. It is also used in common households.

Main components of Servo Voltage Stabilizer:

Type of stabilizers

Basically, there are two types of stabilizers:

1) Relay based

2) Servo based.

1). Relay based: The stabilizers corrects the output voltage at ±10%. Relay based stabilizers are used for low rating electronic appliances in ordinary households, offices, and institutions. There is an electronic circuit and a set of relays besides transformers in it comprises. The electronic circuit contains a rectifier circuit, a micro-controller unit, an operational amplifier, and other fine components.

2). Servo based: In this, servo motor correct and manage supply using buck/boost function. Servo voltage stabilizers also are known as servo stabilizers because they work on servo mechanism and used a servo motor to maintain voltage fluctuation. They are mainly used to control high output voltage accuracy. 

Difference between relay type voltage stabilizer and Servo voltage

There are many basic and advanced differences between both voltage stabilizers based on their working and functions.

• Technology: Relay type stabilizers use relay technology and Servo voltage stabilizers use a servo motor.
• Models: Only Air-cooled mode is available with Relay stabilizers and in Servo voltage stabilizers both Air and Oil cool models are available.
• Load Capacity: A Relay stabilizer can take up to 10 KVA only and Servo voltage stabilizer can hold up to 5000 KVA and even more as per the demand.
• Function criteria: There are set of relays connected besides transformer in Relay stabilizer and in Servo voltage stabilizers there are Buck-Boost transformers are connected.
